Entry: When You Can't Mug Anymore. Tuesday, October 18, 2005

It's amazing I'm actually blogging AGAIN after two days.

It's also amazing how the silly wet market just next door can teem with life.

It's also amazing how something so near you can feel so foreign.

SO today, my mom and I decided to have breakfast at the Bt. Timah Hawker Centre, a place I've only been to and stayed for more than 5 mins for the first time in the last 5 years. I was having my bowl of yong tau fu soup and kopi-c when I noticed next to me, a pair of grandparents with their grandson drawing admiring stares from other tables. I then wondered, will this be my life half a century later, sitting there, baby-sitting my grandchildren sipping a contented cup of kopi-c and having the little tike squirming over. Or will I be sipping a decaf at Starbucks with myself, gazing peacefully at the hustle and bustle of city life. I then realised the A-levels are more important.

On my way to buy the paper, I looked at the local ahmas and ahpas shuffling around, middle-aged dolling themselves up for a trip to the market. I wondered then if 50 years from now, I'll be dank, blank and waiting for death's grip embracing me. Or will all purpose end once I retire- even before? I then realised the A-levels are more important.

Sometimes I wonder what my future will be.

Que sara sara. So it is.

P.S. YES it's the tiramisu song playing.............
